SAN DIEGO, April 14, 2026 — Interpreters Unlimited (IU) is proud to announce the launch of a new suite of AI powered assistants designed to streamline communication, simplify workflows, and enhance the overall experience for both customers and linguists.

The newly introduced IU AI Assistants bring intelligent, real-time support directly into the hands of users through a simple, conversational interface, making it easier than ever to access critical information, manage appointments, and navigate the platform without friction. At the heart of the launch are two primary tools, the Client AI Assistant, built for customers, and the Linguist AI Assistant, designed specifically for interpreters and translators.

For organizations and individuals relying on language services, time and clarity are critical. The Client AI Assistant allows users to instantly retrieve important appointment details, ask platform related questions, and get guided support 24/7 without having to search through multiple pages or wait for assistance.

Using natural language, customers can ask questions such as, “Show my upcoming events”, “Give me upcoming events in California” , or “How do I reset my password” etc. The assistant then delivers clear, relevant answers in real time, pulling directly from system data and trusted knowledge sources.

For interpreters and translators, the Linguist AI Assistant introduces a faster, more intuitive way to manage daily workflows. From viewing and accepting assignments to submitting timesheets and accessing event details, linguists can now handle essential tasks through a single conversational interface. Key capabilities include viewing upcoming, ongoing, and past assignments, accessing detailed event information (date, time, location, language), accepting assignments directly through the assistant, completing and submitting timesheets, payment related questions etc.

Both the Client and Linguist AI Assistants operate through two intuitive modes. Appointment Mode, which provides real-time access to event and scheduling information, and General Mode, which answers common questions and provides platform guidance. This dual-mode approach ensures users can quickly get the information they need, whether it’s related to a specific assignment or general support.

Users can access the AI Assistants in the main navigation menu of interpreters.com and creating a secure account with an email and password, ensuring a personalized and protected experience.

“The goal was simple,” said Interpreters Unlimited CEO Shamus Sayed. “We wanted to remove friction, so whether you’re a customer needing quick answers or a linguist managing your schedule, everything is easier, faster, and more intuitive.”

In addition to customer and linguist tools, IU has also developed an internal AI Assistant for staff, designed to enhance day-to-day operations for the IU team, improving response times, and increasing overall efficiency across the organization.

With the launch of these AI Assistants, Interpreters Unlimited continues to expand its investment in technology, combining human expertise with intelligent tools to better serve a diverse and multilingual world. As demand for fast, accessible communication grows across industries, IU’s latest innovation reflects a broader shift toward smarter, more responsive language solutions. Try the IU AI Assistants today in our navigation menu at the top of the site.

SAN DIEGO, February 19, 2026 — As Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools gain popularity in document translation, legal and immigration professionals are warning of the growing risk that automated translations are being used for high stakes filings where even minor errors can lead to costly delays, rejected applications, or legal consequences.

In response to the rising demand for accountable certified human translation, Interpreters Unlimited (IU), a national language service provider, is doubling down on humans. IU has just launched Certified Translation by Interpreters Unlimited™, a secure online portal, developed in partnership with AcudocX, designed to streamline access to legally accepted document translation services across the United States.

Through the platform, individuals and organizations can securely upload files, receive clear rapid pricing and turnaround details, approve projects, and track progress from start to finish entirely online. The service is designed primarily for individuals who need translations for immigration paperwork, birth and marriage certificates, asylum materials, medical records, academic transcripts, and legal filings. It also supports professionals working in healthcare, law, education, government, and corporate environments.

While AI based translation tools offer speed and convenience, they can not provide certification, legal accountability, or guaranteed acceptance by courts and federal agencies such as U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Translations handled through Certified Translation by Interpreters Unlimited™ do just that, meeting strict quality standards and including certified documentation that is accepted by courts, government agencies, school systems, and other official entities.

Immigration attorneys and legal aid organizations have increasingly reported cases where applicants submitted documents translated through automated tools, only to see their filings delayed or rejected because of critical errors. In several documented instances, mistranslated dates, locations, and medical histories triggered Requests for Evidence (RFEs) or denials, forcing families to restart the process and wait months longer than expected to reunite.

“A mistranslated date, medical term, or legal phrase can change the outcome of any immigration case or court proceeding,” said Shamus Sayed, CEO of Interpreters Unlimited. “Technology can assist with efficiency, but when someone’s legal status, health records, or professional future are on the line, human expertise and accountability are essential.” For many users, this portal is more than a convenience during this time in our country, in the age of ICE and stricter immigration policies it is a lifeline, helping families reunite, students pursue opportunity, and immigrants move forward with confidence instead of confusion.

Certified Translation by Interpreters Unlimited™ pairs qualified professional linguists with translation management technology to deliver faster certified translations in more than 70 languages. This approach eliminates the delays and minimizes the back and forth communication of the traditional translation process, allowing customers to move forward faster with confidence. Each project is assigned to a linguist based on the language pair, ensuring cultural and contextual accuracy alongside linguistic precision, and all certified translations meet acceptance standards for courts, government agencies, schools, and official institutions.

The launch reflects a broader industry shift, as AI tools become more widespread, demand is simultaneously increasing for verified, accountable human translation in high risk settings such as immigration, healthcare, and legal proceedings. “AI can summarize or approximate meaning,” Sayed added. “But it cannot assume responsibility for the accuracy of a sworn translation. When families are applying for visas, students are submitting credentials, or patients are providing medical histories, precision matters, and that’s where we come in.”

Individuals and organizations can access the new portal at www.interpreters.com/certified-translation-portal.

SAN DIEGO, CALIF., November 5, 2019 – American Sign Language on The Walking Dead

One of the most popular shows on television today, The Walking Dead* *(Warning: possible spoilers and content and language not suitable for everyone in the link), is bringing inclusion to the tv screens of millions of viewers every week. Last year, during season 9, they introduced Deaf actress Lauren Ridloff as their first Deaf character who communicates in American Sign Language on the show. Alongside Ridloff is actress Angel Theory, playing her sister Kelly, who is Hard of Hearing. Typically, characters on the show are based on their original comic book counterpart, however, casting these characters as Deaf and Hard of Hearing are a complete change, and one of great inclusion.

If you are a fan of the show, or even familiar with it in the slightest, you know that any character can be lost at any given moment. The zombie apocalypse environment is not one that is easily navigated and survived. Having Ridloff and Theory on the show, surviving and thriving now in Season 10, projects their strength and resilience as characters, and you could say mirrors the strength and resilience of those in the real world who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. It is great to have them included on such a popular show, bringing so much attention and awareness to the topic and culture.

Sunday night’s episode opened with the entire first scene focused on Kelly and her hearing loss.* *(Warning: possible spoilers and content and language not suitable for everyone in the link) She was tracking an animal through the forest where you hear the sounds of the wild, birds chirping, leaves rustling, and then they close up on Kelly’s face and the sound goes out. They brought her point of view to the viewer. There was some ringing and muffled sound, and you realize that she is having more difficulty hearing. (In a prior episode Kelly tells her sister Connie that she thinks her hearing is getting worse and she is having difficulty dealing with it, which is actually happening to the actress in her real life.* *(Warning: possible spoilers and content and language not suitable for everyone in the link) Connie tells her that she will help her through it and that their hearing impairment is a super power and not a disability, which is what Theory’s mother had told her in real life to comfort her. She empowers it, it makes them who they are and has helped them get to where they are.)

The opening scene continues with Kelly attempting to shoot a slingshot as her hearing gets worse, she has trouble concentrating but then shoots. The sound gets muffled once again putting the viewer into her point of view, taking you inside of that feeling for a brief moment. As she is dealing with her hearing issue, zombies begin to approach her, one of which she narrowly escapes due to not being able to hear them behind her. The scene switches point of views from sound to what Kelly barely hears, putting hearing into the forefront, emphasizing the sound differences so viewers get an appreciation of the gravity of being Deaf or Hard of Hearing, especially in this Walking Dead world.

Later on in the show, one of the main characters, Daryl, played by Norman Reedus, enters a scene. He waves over to Connie and signs “Talk later?” to her. This is another great story in the show, the relationship between Daryl and Connie* *(Warning: possible spoilers and content and language not suitable for everyone in the link), which adds to the inclusion and further puts awareness into the spotlight. Their relationship has been highlighted on the show throughout many episodes. Over time it has shown Daryl, and other characters, learning American Sign Language to be able to communicate with Connie and Kelly in their language. Sign language is used so much in so many scenes, as well as communicating through writing and expressions, and emphasizing words when speaking.

Through the episodes, Daryl isn’t always perfect with his signing or expressions, but it shows that he is trying and is determined to learn ASL. In one episode earlier in the season there is a scene that shows a book about learning ASL in his back pocket which some viewers might have missed but was a nice touch by the show. In a recent interview, Reedus spoke about learning sign language, explaining that there have been a few times in which he has messed up some ASL on set where he said a dirty word or two just because of the wrong placement of his hands. It shows that ASL is a skill and artform and every little expression makes a difference. Ridloff also said in a recent interview that all of the cast have been learning ASL, not just for their acting parts but so they can communicate with her and Theory off camera.

Characters in the show who have been with Connie and Kelly for a long time have become fluent in sign language, while the characters who have known her a short time are in various stages of just learning. It shows that we are all able to learn ASL and communicate at anytime, under all different circumstances. The Walking Dead is a show with an especially diverse cast, and it’s great to have them do their part including the Deaf and Hard of Hearing culture now. In a show where so many characters don’t last very long, it’s nice to see these two characters portrayed as strong survivors, which is true to the culture, and it’s refreshing to see them put it into the spotlight often, bringing so much attention and awareness to the mainstream.

SAN DIEGO, CALIF., October 24, 2019 – ASL Concert Interpreter For Beyonce Brings The Passion.

Beyonce is known for putting on a great performance during her concerts. It is hard to upstage her. However, this past week some are saying her American Sign Language ASL concert interpreter gave her a run for her money.

During Atlanta Pride Weekend, ASL interpreter David Cowan shined throughout Beyonce’s set. He started to go viral across the internet with a video of his interpretation of her song “Get Me Bodied”. The passion and energy he puts into his work provides the Deaf and Hard of Hearing attendees with a totally inclusive and exciting experience.

Cowan, who is also deaf, is a seasoned concert and event interpreter. He has been interpreting for Atlanta Pride for 19 years. Over the years he has always brought the energy and enthusiasm of the singers to the stage with him, which elevates the experience for everyone.

This performance is the latest in a string of ASL interpreters making the news with their brilliant interpreting at concerts. Just recently the ASL interpreter for hip hop artist Twista went viral for the incredible speed and passion that she demonstrated while signing for the artist at a Charlotte, North Carolina concert. It was most impressive as Twista holds the Guinness World Record as fastest rapper of all time.

Another recent viral ASL concert story involved a Carrie Underwood fan who’s video of her signing to an Underwood song caught the singers attention. Underwood gave the fan tickets to her Washington DC show and invited her backstage where they performed a song together.

These extraordinary American Sign Language concert interpretations not only do good by creating a better experience for those Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals at each show, but as they make the news they spread awareness and educate, hopefully encouraging those who do not provide interpreters for their events or industries to begin doing so.

Concerts are becoming more accessible for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing population every day. American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters are being provided at these events to create more inclusivity and to bring a better event experience to those who communicate through ASL. There is so much heart, feeling and energy being put into ASL interpreting at these shows that it really brings the concerts to life.

Recently, singer Carrie Underwood happened upon a viral internet video of a 9 year old girl signing along to one of her songs. She was so impressed that she invited the girl and her family to experience her show front row in Washington DC.

Standing front row, the young girl signed along to the songs and did so well that she even impressed the ASL interpreter for the Washington DC show. After the concert, Underwood invited the girl backstage and asked her if she’d like to perform a song together, signing the words as Underwood sang them. Of course she said yes and they put on a great performance together.

Watch them perform the song together and read much more about this story here: https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/parenting/2019/10/07/carrie-underwood-meets-deaf-girl-sign-language-song-interpretation-viral/3896231002/

SAN DIEGO, CALIF., October 4, 2019 – Interpreters In Chicago Are Making Art Accessible.

Accessibility is becoming increasingly available everywhere you go. From concerts, to schools, to healthcare facilities, courts and on. Foreign language interpretation, translation, and American Sign Language (ASL) are being utilized everywhere to assist those Limited English Speakers or Deaf or Hard of Hearing individuals with the daily communication barriers that they face.

One industry that has been increasing their accessibility is the art industry. More and more art galleries and museums are bringing on interpreters to help with tours, talks and events. We have seen it here in San Diego, California and have read stories about the same taking place in New York City, Miami, Florida, Boston, Massachusetts and what seems like every major city in the US.

Now interpreters in Chicago are making art accessible. Chicago, Illinois recently joined in when The Art Institute of Chicago began offering monthly public tours in American Sign Language. ASL interpreters show the artwork on display and have discussions about the pieces for a totally inclusive experience. ASL tours at The Art Institute take place once a month at the moment but they are planning on expanding that to provide greater access to art education for adults and children in Chicago.

To read another story about the ASL tours at The Art Institute of Chicago, and to watch a video where the above blog image originated, visit this link: https://abc7chicago.com/community-events/art-institute-of-chicago-offering-asl-guided-tours-/5357602/

SAN DIEGO, CALIF., September 19, 2019 – You’ve probably heard of Poetry Slam and Spoken Word, but how about ASL Slam? ASL Slam is a visual art with a national and international presence. Their events deliver live poetry, storytelling, comedy and more in ASL for the Deaf community. ASL Slam Orlando is one organization that has taken the concept and ran with it.

ASL Slam Orlando launched in 2017 and has been going strong since, even bringing to their stage performers from around the country. “ASL Slam is an open stage for the community…Deaf audiences, interpreters, ASL students, and signers participate and show their unique talent in ASL.” said Orlando host and founder Kumar Singh.

Artistic and linguistic expression, raising awareness and inclusivity are among their core objectives. Awareness and inclusivity especially come into play with their hearing attendees. They even have interpreters for the hearing at times, interpreting the performer introductions for those who are not ASL proficient. Singh said, “When it comes to a performance, the interpreter will be voice off and allow hearing people to focus on the visuals, not hearing…they can learn new experiences of what ASL is like. Everyone is always welcomed! They might be surprised at the silence in the room.”

The ASL community comes together for these events monthly between Orlando and other locations in the US.

The next Orlando ASL Slam event is in November and you can visit aslslam.com to learn much more.
